Sunday 11th November 2018 - The Armistice

This day starts at 10am at St Wenna Church with a special Remembrance Service marking the centenary of the Armistice.  The service will be conducted by Jan Salter, part of which will take place outside next to the newly restored war memorial, which the parish were successfully awarded a grant from the War Memorials Trust.  The Last Post will be played as we remember those who died in the Great War 1914-1918 and all subsequent conflicts.

The Flower Festival and Exhibition opens for its final day, allowing an opportunity to view the floral creations depicting WW1 and significant elements from the last 100 years.  Admission is £2.50 per person on entry.  Cream Teas, cakes and a soup lunch will be available to purchase in the hall separately.  At 4pm, doors will close.

From 6.30pm, we invite you for a Grand Finale!  Tickets at £10 each should be purchased beforehand from Jo on 01726 890445 or - ALL SOLD!!

'St Wenn Remembers', will participate in the National Commemoration starting at 6.55pm.  St Wenn Bellringers will ring a 'peal' as other bellringers around the country 'Ring Out for Peace'.  At 7.05pm, 'The Last Post' will be played and we remember and pay tribute to those who fought and died.  Following a period of silence, the award winning Mount Charles Brass Band will entertain us all in music and song, in true, typical Last Night of the Proms style.  Let your flags wave and voices sing-out to the classics of 'Rule Britannia', 'Jerusalem' and 'Trelawney'!  A 'Cry For Peace' will be called as we end our commemoration with 'The National Anthem'.
